IMP Calculation

IMPs: the difference between the results the two (2) partnerships achieved on a board is input to a “Diff” column in a
table and the International MatchPoints (IMPs) are read from the associated “IMPs” column
 All boards played are converted to IMPs International Matchpoint (IMP) Scale
o You only win IMPs if you have a

Victory Point Calculation


Victory Points: derived from IMPs based on a 20-point scale. (A 30-point scale is available, but typically not used.)
 Victory Points (VPs) are calculated on the total IMP score for the match 20-Pt. Victory Point (VP) Scale
 The 2 teams split the available Victory Points (no negative VPs)

o A dead tie in IMPs gives each team 10 VPs (20-point scale)
o A team that wins by 1 or 2 IMPs gets 11 VPs; 0 10-10 14-16 16-4

o A win by 5-7 IMPs results in a 13 / 7 split 5-7 13-7 24-27 19-1
o A win by 28 IMPs or more, called a “blitz,” has all 20 VPs going 8-10 14-6 28+ 20-0

 Victory Points are cumulative for all the matches
