DEFORESTATION - is the permanent destruction of forests in order to make the land

available for other uses.


Causes
There are many causes of deforestation. The WWF & reports that half of the trees
illegally removed from forests are used as fuel.
Some other common reasons are:
 To make more land available for housing and urbanization
 To harvest timber to create commercial items such as paper, furniture and
homes
 To create ingredients that are highly prized consumer items, such as the oil from
palm trees
 To create room for cattle ranching
Effects:
 Climate change
 Loss of Biodiversity
 Water cycle
 Soil erosion destruction
Biodiversity the variety of life in the world or in a particular habitat or ecosystem.
FLASH FLOOD - A flash flood is a rapid flooding of low-lying areas. It is also a sudden local
flood, typically due to heavy rain.
Causes
Flooding occurs most commonly from heavy rainfall when natural watercourses do not have the
capacity to convey excess water. However, floods are not always caused by heavy rainfall.
Flash Floods can be caused by a number of things, but is most often due to extremely heavy
rainfall from thunderstorms.

FLOOD - is a temporary overflow of water onto land that is normally dry.
Causes

 Rains
 River Overflow
 Hurricanes, Strong winds in costal areas
