This poem tells the story of a couple who repeatedly try to rekindle their relationship despite it being damaged. They take risks to find paradise again but end up lost each time as their foundation is cracked from rough treatment of each other. While they feel sparks of passion remain, deep down they understand nothing can save their broken bond.

They were playing for keeps But they both knew the cost Still, the two took the leap And ended up completely lost
Trying to find a way back to paradise
Stretching and grasping on strings of nothing Willing to throw all the bad away and sacrifice. Yet the constant roughing and shoving Was enough to break that splice
But time after time they’d crawl back
They never gave up, despite both still bleeding, And each rekindled moment was off-track. The foundation already cracked and brooding; Still, both were clinging onto the fact
There was still a fire, still a spark to be felt.
Both convinced, just needed some form of help But in reality, deep down both understood, Nothing could save the broken two.
