Bali Traditional Culture “Nyepi” As a Solution of General Global and Local Issues

Energy sustainability is the most important thing nowadays. Energy are needed in every activities start
from household activities to office activities, but proportion of energy resources and energy demand are
not balance. Furthermore, human populations always increase significantly which bring the lack of
energy. One of the government solutions of this global issue is to turn off electricity in turn, however it
would not be that effective unless it is turned off in same time. In Bali, there is one day called Silent Day
where everyone will not turn the electricity, go outside the house and even do not working in one day.
The research says that in Nyepi Day 60% electricity will be saved, the air pollution is reduced to 80%. So,
Nyepi Day is totally needed to globalie so that several global issues such as lack of energy and air
pollution can be solved.
