MATH-SCI 2019 CELEBRATION

The Boat is
Sinking
MECHANICS:
1. Each grade level will have at most 5 groups to represent their section. Each group should
be consisting of 2 students only.
2. The participants will bring their own materials as follows:
a. foil (12inx12in)
b. one peso coins (no limit of amount, if possible bring at least 300 coins)
c. basin (not exceeding 25 inches in diameter and 10 inches deeper)
d. water (2 liters)
3. The competition will be held at Grade 8 Mabini classroom at 12nn on September 19, 2019.
4. The group with missing members or incomplete materials cannot join the competition.
Each group should be ready beforehand.
5. The groups are not allowed to borrow from other groups’ materials. Each group should
provide their own materials as needed.
6. The groups can practice in advance. They can also decide on the design of their foil boat
but should be folded/formed on the competition day only.
7. The groups will compete on the last boat to sink. In case of a tie, the amount of coins will
be counted and the highest amount of coins will be declared the winner.
8. 1st PLACE, 2ND PLACE and 3RD PLACE awards will be given accordingly. The assigned teacher
will declare the winners.
