ABSTRACT

Research of Cr(VI) and Pb(II) adsorption using polyphenol has been

conducted. Phenol compound polymerization was performed by electrolysis method.
Polyphenol has been characterized by Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR)
spectroscopy. The FT-IR result showed that deposition product from electrolysis
process as phenol polymer was confirmed. The adsorption of ion Cr(VI) is optimum
at pH 3, whereas for Pb(II) was not occured. Isothermal adsorption parameter showed
adsorption capacity of Cr (VI) is 7,274 x 10-5 mol/g, adsorption equilibrium constant
of Cr (VI) is 0,674 L/mol. Energy adsorption of Cr(VI) on polyphenol was predicted
of 16,2537 kJ/mol and indicated that physical and chemical adsorption occured
involving electrostatic interaction.
