ABSTRACT
PURPOSE
The main concern of the study was to measure the mathematics performance of the Grade 12 learners of SHS in San
Nicholas III, Bacoor City during the 1st quarter of the 1st semester of School Year 2019-2020.
DESIGN/METHODOLOGY
The descriptive design was used in this study. Validated diagnostic test from pool of experts was designed as the
instrument of the study. To ensure the objectivity of the data analyzed and presented the Mean Percentage Score (MPS) was
used.
FINDINGS
The mathematics performance of Grade 12 learners of SHS in San Nicholas was found to be in a low mastery level
based on the 60-item diagnostic test prepared by the mathematics teachers covering all the learning competencies of General
Mathematics and Statistic and Probability Subjects. Moreover, the Mean Percentage Score revealed that almost all of item was
found under the category of very difficult and difficult items. Significantly, the overall result of mathematics performance on the
teachers’ made diagnostic test was found to be similar to the BEEA result concluded during the previous school year.
ORIGINALITY/VALUE
Utilization of mathematics test items created for measuring the performance level as the diagnostic tool to enhance
teacher-learning competencies for the development of Project Group Effort Review on mathematics Aptitude for Learners
Development and Intervention focus on the Needs and Engagement (GERALDINE). The approach of gathering of test items
from all mathematics teachers values the collaborative effort to increase the mathematics performance of the learners.
RESEARCH LIMITATIONS
This study focused on the employability of the teacher’ made diagnostic test to Grade 12 learners during the 1st quarter
