Hedgehog
Hedgehogs are four-legged omnivorous mammal from the family of Erinaceidae. There
are 17 species of them in the world and they inhabited certain regions in the world as
their origin such as Europe, Asia, Africa and New Zealand. They may have similar
Hedgehogs are easily recognized with their spines all over their body. The spines are just
like hairs and they are made of keratin. They are not poisonous and cannot easily be
detached from the body. The immature spines do fall off of their body during the "quilling"

outwards as a protection from the predator like foxes, wolves, ferrets and owls.
Most of them are nocturnal. They mainly feed on berries, melons, mushrooms, grass
roots, bird eggs, frogs, snails and insects. Their body can grow up to 20 cm in length with
the maximum weight of 1 kg. Most of them can live up to 5 years, but some species with
large body may be able to live up to 7 years in the wild. They will undergo several times
