Lesson Plan in Arts 9

I. OBJECTIVES: at the end of the lesson the learners are expected to……….

1. determine artworks whether it belongs to Classical Greece or Rome;

2. compare the characteristics of artworks produced in the different art periods;

3. analyze art elements and principles in the production of work following the style of classical art.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

A. Topic: Comparison of Greek and Roman art (Classical art)

B. Materials: Laptop, Smart TV, PowerPoint presentation, copies of pictures of Greek and Roman art

C. Reference: internet, Music and Arts teacher’s Guide book

D. Core Values: art appreciation, cooperation

III. PROCEDURE:

A. Routinary Activities:

1. Checking of cleanliness of the room

2. Checking of attendance

3. Review: Recall artworks under classical Greece and Rome through the pictures shown by the teacher

B. Motivation: Greek or Roman Deity? - learners will answer a trivia quiz about Greek and Roman Gods

C. Lesson Proper:

1. Greek VS. Roman - teacher will show comparison of Classical Greek and Roman art forms, let the learners
point out characteristics of each artworks.

2. Selection Reading - each group will be given 5 min to read a selection about comparison of Greek and
Roman art.

3. Group Activity - each group will be given examples of artworks under the assigned art forms to them.
Compare and contrast the two using the following indicators:

A. Name of artworks

B. Period and Era it was created

C. Materials Used (1)

D. The use of elements of arts: line, shape, color,


texture (2)

E. The distinctive characteristic and function of


the artwork (2)

4. Presentation: the leader or group representative will present their outputs before the class.

IV. Evaluation: A 5 item quiz will be given by the teacher

V. Assignment:

Bring the following materials tomorrow to be used for an art activity

1. Colored paper (black,red/orange)


2. Pieces of paper (colored magazine) cut into small cubes
3. Black marker
4. Scissor
