Last Wednesday, I watched the Junior High School playing
badminton which is single and double elimination. Upon watching the game, I enjoyed it. When the game started, I learned the rules of badminton. What I observed was you had to hit the shuttle over the net. In the double elimination you need to choose carefully your partner. It was a key factor which would also help to improve your skills. At the start of the unit, sometimes we would try hit the shuttle at the same time. Sometimes we would just wait for the other to hit it. There are different techniques on how to hit the shuttle like overheads shots, the forehead and backhand drive, the drop shot and the smash. I understand the concept of using space. After hitting a shot, you should always return to the middle so there is less distance you have to run to hit the next return. When hitting the shuttle, you should always try to hit it far so the opponent struggles to get to it and hit it. Example of that is the junior high school playing last Wednesday, his opponent is at the back of the court so, he tried to drop shot which makes them run to net. I learned that when people are side by side, that is a defensive position. When one person is at the front and one at the back it is offensive.
