Aboriginsk skapelsemyt

I begynnelsen reste sig förfäderna ur jorden och gav liv åt människor, djur och natur. De sjöng sin väg
över hela världen. De sjöng floderna och bergskedjorna. De jagade, åt, älskade, dansade, dödade, och
vart än deras spår ledde fram lämnade de efter sig en slinga av musik. Förtidsvarelserna svepte in hela
världen i en väv av sång. De lärde ut lagar och regler för hur samhället skulle fungera. En av lagarna var
att jorden var perfekt i sin skapelse och inte fick manipuleras.

När förfäderna hade skapat allt gick de tillaka in i jorden. Några sjönk ner i marken där de stod. Andra
kröp in i grottor, somliga kravlade bort till sina fäderneärvda vattenhål där de en gång hade fötts. Och
människorna fortsatte att leva efter de regler som förtidsvarelserna hade lärt dem.

Aboriginal creation myth

In the beginning, the ancestors rose from the earth and gave life to people, animals and nature. They
sang their way all over the world. They sang the rivers and mountain ranges. They hunted, ate, loved,
danced, killed, and wherever their tracks led, they left behind a loop of music. The early creatures swept
the whole world into a weave of song. They taught laws and rules for how society would work. One of
the laws was that the earth was perfect in its creation and not allowed to be manipulated.

When the ancestors had created everything, they went back into the earth. Some fell into the ground
where they stood. Others crawled into caves, some crawling away to their ancestral water holes where
they had once been born. And the people continued to live by the rules that the early creatures had
taught them.
