IAPEX 2019

The Institute of Architects Pakistan Lahore Chapter (IAP-LC) organised its annual event ‘IAPEX 2019’
from February 14th - 17th 2018. The event, convened by Ar. Maira Khan , Assistant Professor Comsat
University Islamabad, Lahore Campus and co-convened by Ar. Faisal Riaz , was held at the Lahore
International Expo Centre. Attended by architects, designers, planners, academia, social and
environmental scientists and experts from related disciplines, the IAPEX 2019 comprised of a number of
events which included a three-day building materials exhibition, a forum session, a panel discussion
session and informal discussion sessions with renowned architects. The theme for this year’s IAPEX was
‘Lahore Urbanised’.

Inauguration Ceremony Jamboree IAPEX 2019

IAPEX Jamboree 2019 was inaugurated by the Honorable Ar Nayyer Ali Dada. This time around Architect
Jamboree was a successful event where more than 40 institutes participated all over Pakistan and more
than 800 students participated in all the activities of IAPEX 2019 which included flag hoisting ,
symposium, workshop, quiz, round table conference and cultural night.
Inauguration Ceremony IAPEX 2019

IAPEX 2019 was Inaugurated by the Honourable Pro Vice- Chancellor of IAC Ar Pervaiz Vandal .In a
delightful ceremony conducted by Dr Ar. Shama Ambrine Honorary Secretary IAP-LC, Convener IAPEX
2019 Ar. Maira Khan warmly welcomed the Chief guest and introduced him to the various activities of
the IAPEX. President IAP Ar. Arif Changaizi also extended his warm wishes the IAPEX team. Ar Thomas
Vonier , President of Union of International Architect sent a congratulation message to IAPEX 2019
Team.The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks from Ar. Saad Mahmood Khan, Chairman IAP-LC who
also presented a memento to the Chief Guest on behalf of the team IAPEX 2019.

Symposium

Second half of the day was a Panel discussion which led to brainstorming and innovative ideas. The
Panellists included the following distinguished professionals.

1. Ar Marcus Wilson: Lahore a changing city

2. Ar. Oliva Duncan: Biomimicry and the future of cities

3. Ar. Dr .Nabil Moharab: Urban Edges: Milestone spaces in managing the urban growth process

4. Ar. Amina Rafi Chaudry: The mirthful Vibe of Lahore

5. Dr Anees ur Rahmaan: Urban Lahore , a conceptual probe about the development of Lahore

The discussion was moderated by Convener Forum IAPEX 2019 Ar. Munazza Akhtar. The panel
discussion resulted in the formation of a working group to initiate a preliminary study to provide
guidelines for enhancing Lahore Urbanised. This working group includes all the distinguished panellists,
convener and co-convener forum session, convener IAPEX 2019 and President IAP. Mementos were
distributed at the end of the panel discussion by Ar. Arif Changaizi , Ar Kalim A, Siddiqui , Ar Jahangir
Khan Sherpao.
Forum Session

Ar. Dr. Shama Anbrine (Convener) and Ar. Hafsa Ali (co-convener) together with a dedicated team of
subject experts including Ar. Kalim A. Siddiqui, Ar. Sajjad Kauser and Ar. AsadAli shortlisted the papers to
be presented in the Forum session. Moderated by Ar. Hafsa Ali, following papers were presented.This
time around 3 faculty members Ar. Nabah Ali Saad, Ar. Zeeshan Zaheer, Assistant Professor , CUI,
Lahore, and , Ar Hiba Hashmi participated in Forum session.
Urban Forest Competition

Convened by Ar. Nabah Ali Saad, , Assistant Professor , CUI, Lahore.

Lahore Urban Forest Competition 6 institutes from Lahore Chapter participated. We got to witness a lot
of intelligence, combined with the energy coming from the participants. CUI, Lahore won the
competition for 2 sites.

Roundtable

Round table Conference, City for smart citizens was held where architects and students had an
enlightening discussion. The conference was moderated by Ar. Zeeshan Zaheer, Assistant Professor ,
CUI, Lahore.
Closing Ceremony

The Closing Ceremony of IAPEX 2019 was held at Expo Center. It was a well-attended event by
distinguished architects of Pakistan. The chief guest of the ceremony was Ar. Jahangir Khan Sherpao,
President ARCASIAwhereas eminent architects from around the country including Ar. Arif Changezi
(Chairman IAP-KC), Ar. Mansoor Ahmed Khan (Chairman IAP-PC), Ar. Farida Ghaffar (Hon. Secretary IAP-
KC), Architect Sadia Fazli (Registrar PCATP), Ar. Faisal Arshad (IAP-IC). The event was conducted by Ar.
Shama Ambrine. Vote of Thanks was given by Ar. Maira Khan ,Convener IAPEX 2019, Assistant Professor
Comsat University Islamabad, Lahore Campus .

The IAPEX 2019 organising committee and sponsors were presented mementos. Winners of an earlier
competition regarding the ‘best designed stall’ were also awarded mementos.
