PARTS OF THE FINAL RESEARCH PAPER

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

A. OVERVIEW
 Provide background information about the topic.
 Include important definitions and/ or statistics.

B. RESEARCH AIMS
 Begin with: “This paper aims to:

 Examples of such verbs are: explain, define, discuss, explore, trace, elaborate, compare,

C. RESEARCH QUESTIONS

 Each research aim must be translated into intelligent questions.
 Do not include questions simply answerable by yes or no; otherwise follow up with “Why?”
or “How?”

CHAPTER 2: RESEARCH METHOD

A. DESCRIPTION OF THE METHOD USED


 Choose from among the five (5) principles of organization you learned the method you will
employ to develop your paper.
 Define, describe and/or explain how the method/s you chose is/are used.
 Explain how your chosen principle/s of organization will be used to develop understanding
of your topic.

B. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
 Create a graphical organizer of the key concepts to be discussed in your paper
 Show their relationship by using arrows.
 Provide an explanation after the conceptual diagram you created.
CHAPTER 3: RELATED READINGS
 Discussions are thematic, meaning,the topic is discussed in chunks of information.
 You can refer to your outline for your headings in this chapter.
 Order your headings and discussions progressively.
 Use CMS system for parenthetical documentation.
 Be consistent with the documentation format you will use.
 It is allowed to use both parenthetical and non-parenthetical documentation; make sure
though to be consistent.

CHAPTER 4: PROPOSITIONS
 Follow the same format we used for the propositions for the Research Interview Report.
 It is expected that you have at least twenty (20) propositions.
 Use CMS system for parenthetical documentation.
 Be consistent with the documentation format you will use.
 It is allowed to use both parenthetical and non-parenthetical documentation; make sure
though to be consistent.

CHAPTER 5: CONCLUSION

A. SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
 Provide a synthesis in paragraph form of all major findings and facts learned from the
research project.

B. RECOMMENDATIONS
 Enlist things or courses of action for possible implementation and/or further study.
 Begin with: “After a diligent research, the proponent recommends that:”

 Use the subjunctive mood to formulate your recommendations.
