DAILY LESSON PLAN 2019
The students are instructed to have 4 groups. They will be
given four pictures with Idiomatic Expressions. They are
required to give the meaning of the picture given in the
formed sentence. Select only 1 representative in each group.
An idiom is a peculiar use of certain words and phrases or
expressions which, from long usage, have acquired a
particular meaning.
Idiomatic expressions are a type of informal English that
have a meaning that is different from the words in the
expression.
Use idioms to make the speech more attractive and
impressive. Idioms make language more vivid and
descriptive.
• What do you mean by idiomatic expression?
• How can we find meaning from the idiomatic
expression?
• Can we use idiomatic expressions in our daily
communication with others? In what way?
• Is it important for us to know about idioms? Why or
why not?
Title: Find me, I’m lost
The learners are instructed to have one
representative in each same group. They are given 2
minutes to match the idiomatic expressions to its meaning
written in the strips of papers by pasting it on the board.
Rating would be 5-1. Five points will be given to the first to
paste the correct match followed by second to fifth.
In a one fourth sheet of paper, the students will answer the
following:
Instruction: Give the meaning of the idiomatic expressions
underlined in the sentences according to your own
understanding. Write it before the number of each item.
Two points each.
1. I will clean my room when pigs fly.
2. This assignment is a piece of cake.
3. Wow! It’s raining cats and dogs out there!
4. To make the long story short, this is what happened.
5. No! You are barking at the wrong tree! It’s not him.
An idiom is an expression that takes on a figurative
meaning when certain words are combined which is
different from the literal definition of the individual words
