The Companies Act, 2013 does not contain an exhaustive definition of the term

director.
Section 2(34) of the Companies Act , 2013 defines a “director” means a director
appointed to the board of a company.

Who can be a director:-


Body corporate, Association, LLP or firm cannot be appointed as director of a
company.
Only an individual who has obtained the Director Identification Number (DIN) can be
appointed as a director.
Foreign National or NRI can be appointed as director.
There is no age limit for appointment of director but minor cannot be appointed as
director.
