GDP

The first focus of our attention is Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP is the market value of goods and
services produced within a selected geographic area (usually a country) in a selected interval in time
(often a year). Rightly or wrongly, this has become the standard by which we measure the size and
health of a country. Big and/or growing are good. Small and/or shrinking are bad
