Umang: Good morning everyone I am Umang Arora and this is

Sparsh Srivastava
Pushkar Manglani
Divyanshi Awasthi
And we are here to present our views on the topic Android.
So, let’s get started.
Sparsh: Let’s begin with the most basic thing which is “What is
Android?”. Android is a mobile operating system currently developed
by Google. It is based on Linux kernel and other open source software.
Linux kernel is a software developed by Linux that handles the input,
output and translation of instructions.
Android is basically designed for devices like smartphones and tablets.
Android has been very popular and had over 2 billion or 200 crore active
users as of May 2017 with accessibility to around 2.6 million applications.
Now, I would like to call Pushkar to talk about the history of android.
Pushkar.
Pushkar: Thank you Sparsh. There was a reason that Sparsh mentioned
the word “currently” when he said that android is a mobile OS currently
developed by Google. This is because Google never founded Android it
was the brainchild of Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White.
It was founded in 2003 in Palo Alto, California. In July 2005 Google
bought Android for a price of 50 million dollars and took its founders as
employees and they launched HTC Dream or T-Mobile G1 as the first
commercially available smartphone running over android on September
23, 2008.
Now I would like to call Divyanshi and Sparsh to talk about some features
of Android.
Divyanshi: Thank you sparsh. Most basic thing about anything which we
see are its features so let’s continue this by discussing some of the
features of Android and the first one is its Interface.
Sparsh: Android interface is based on manipulation by touches, tapping,
swiping on screen or the virtual keyboard. Like everyone of us uses social
media and all we do is swiping tapping and touching the keyboard.
The next feature of Android is its applications.
Divyanshi: Android has a very huge collection of applications around 3
million applications easily available in forms of APK or android
application package or are available at the google play store.
And the next most important feature of Android is its Memory
management.
Sparsh: Android is designed in such a way that we can partially close the
applications not in use for better CPU performance and it also keeps the
app running for immediate use next time.
Now I would like to call Umang and Pushkar to talk about the versions of
Android.
Umang: The biggest reason Android has all the success today is its habit
of updating itself according to the users need. So, we are going to discuss
about the versions of Android launched under Google. Google has been
releasing Android versions named after desserts in an alphabetical order.
Let’s see some key feature of the versions of android
Pushkar: Android cupcake added copy and paste options.
Umang: Android donut added the feature of voice search and better
performance.
Pushkar: Android Éclair gave Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity.
Umang: Android froyo supported adobe flash 10.1 and provided a better
launcher.
Pushkar: Android Ginger bread provided high efficiency and speed and
the facility of internet calling.
Umang: Android Honeycomb supported multi core processors but was
available only for tablets.
Pushkar: Android Ice cream sandwich provided virtual buttons and
ability to close background apps.
Umang: Android jellybean provided smoother user interface and more
graphical improvements.
Pushkar: Android kit-kat provided wireless features and built in screen
recording.
Umang: Android lollipop gave better wi-fi and Bluetooth controls and a
new flick gesture.
Pushkar: Android marshmallow improved security options and battery
use.
Umang: Android Nougat provided file encryption and screen zoom.
Pushkar: Android Oreo came with amazing booting speed and
automated themes.
Umang: Android Pie came with a gesture-based interface.
And google recently broke its habit of naming android versions when
they announced the name of next version to be Android 10.
Now we would like to call Divyanshi to talk about scope of Android.
Divyanshi: The biggest rival that android currently has or ever had is IOS
i.e. I-phone operating system. If we compare Android and IOS we see
that
Now if we look at the mobile OS shares in India we see that Android has
a clear lead with IOS and Nokia behind it.
Now if we increase the scale of this chart and look at global level we see
that there is no match for Android sales all over the world.
Now I would like to call Umang to conclude the presentation.
