page, letter of transmittal, title page,
table of contents and no list of
illustrations.
2. Informal Report Format

appears on page one, preceded by the
title and the author’s name and

of a typical business letter.

purpose.

 You should also consider the type of

readers who will receive the letter
report, as well as the subject being
discussed
5. Bulletins
 these are used for both internal and
external communications
 They present information that is more
important than the information you find
in a memorandum.
 Bulletins are distributed to a number of
readers.
 In other words, bulletins are for
general-specific audiences.
 Other organizations call them
newsletters.
6. Booklets

the readers enough information to

report.

 In other words, an abstract is the

summary of the report.

 This summary should include a

statement of the purpose of the project,
general methods or procedures used
Two Types of
Abstracts
1. Descriptive Abstract
 A Descriptive Abstract gives the
essence of the report by offering the
most significant material in the paper.
 It provides more information than the
informal abstract.
 Thus, it is longer and harder to write.
 However, unless brevity is important,
this is the better type of abstract.
2. Informal Abstract
 This tells us what things are taken up in
the report.

 This abstract is short and easy to write

but obviously contains little information.
