Ma. Laica Berial is a 19-year-old woman who lives her life in poverty.

She is still
a high school student but at the same time, she is also a mother of 2 kids at such a
young age. Our generation today is exposed to this kind of problem wherein teenagers
are already mothers, Ma. Laica Berial was one of them.
“Happiness is only in the beginning, but you’ll eventually regret it in the end.”
a word from Maria who’s currently with her 37 y/o live in partner. Maria’s life before
meeting her partner was terrible but according to her, meeting him changed her life .
Maria dreamt of being a flight attendant once she graduate incase this incident never
happened. According to Laica, she would never be in the positon in her life now if only
for her stepfather. Her stepfather attempted to rape her when she was young which
caused hatred between them. At this time, Laica and her partner are striving to
support the needs of their two children, one being a scrawny 2 y/o toddler and a
nutritious 7 months old baby. Her husband’s current occupation is a tricycle driver
but they’re just renting the vehicle. In the meantime, Laica is doing her best to
graduate this year by means of homeschooling. Laica experienced discrimination with
her husband because of the long age gap, this included discrimination from her family
in which she experienced because of what happened. Out of her 8 brothers and
sisters, Laica did not receive even a single help to raise the kid inside her womb. She
felt anger and sadness towards her family because of this, but there’s someone who’s
kind-hearted enough to help Laica with her struggles and that’s one of her sister.
Every Sunday, Laica goes to church to pray for her family’s safety even if they treat
her cruelly but she does not pray for her stepfather’s safety because of the hatred she
feels.
“Think before you act, do not do something that you will regret, prioritize
education, study well and follow your dreams because the treasure will be there at the
end.” A message from Ma. Laica Berial for the youth of today.
