Sebagai contoh soal ini merupakan soal wajib dalam soal
PTS maupun PAS atau PAT Bahasa Inggris di Kabupaten
Batang. Soal biasnya dalam bentuk tabel dengan 2 kolom.
Kolom A dan Kolom B. Anak diminta untuk menjodohkan
kolom A ke kolom B. Kolom A biasanya sebagai clu atau
kunci atau deskripsi yang berkaitan dengan kolom B.
Model soal ini digunakan untuk mengukur pemahaman
anak, kemampuan analisa anak juga terhadap apa yang
sudah dia terima (Materials)
3 Jumbled words
. Jumbled words atau disorder words adalah kata acak.
Tugas anak adalah mengurutkan kata-kata acak tersebut
menjadi suatu kalimat bermakna yang readable. Model soal
ini dapat mengukur kemampuan anak dalam menyusun
kalimat grammatikal atau sesuai kaidah bahasa Inggris.
Anak memahami struktur kalimat, seperti affirmative,
negative dan interogative senteces. Anak juga mengetahui
unsur kalimat seperti subjek, predikat, objek, kata
keterangan dan lain sebagainya. Umumnya anak-anak
Indonesia kesulitan dalam menyusun suatu kalimat
Bahasa Inggris yang grammatically correct. Namun
demikian, jangan patah semangat, karena untuk
menjawabanya dapat disiasati. Soal ini biasanya
menggunakan angka pada setiap kata atau frasa,
selanjutnya anak menjawabnya dengan cara mengurutkan
urutan angkanya supaya menjadi kalimat bermakna.
4 Jumbled sentences
. Jumbled sentences atau disorder sentence adalah model
soal dimana anak diminta untuk mengurutkan kalimat
acak menjadi suatu paragraf bermakna yang readable dan
sitematis. Dalam kurikulum 2013, soal ini juga dapat
menggunakan dialog acak, disorder dialogue. Anak diminta
untuk mengurutkan dialog tersebut menjadi dialog yang
bermakna. Soal-soal ini biasanya bisa berbasis teks seperti
teks Descriptive, Narrative, Recount, Report dan Proce
dure. Untuk dialogue biasanya berupa dialog
interpersoanal maupun transaksional. Model soal
semacam ini dapat mengukur pemahaman anak mengenai
struktur kaliamat beserta tata bahasa Inggris. Dengan
pemahaman ini anak mampu untuk memanipulasi kaliamt
Bahasa Inggris dalam bentuk soal tipe ini. Soal model ini
lebih sulit daripada menyusun kata acak menjadi suatu
kalimat bermakna. Dan soal semacam ini juga sering
dikeluarkan di sekolah yang sudah menggunakan
kurikulum terbaru 2013. Menurut penulis ini adalah soal
tersulit bagi anak didik di indonesia. Pertanyaan sederhana
saja, Bagaimana anak bisa mengurutkan kalimat
sedangkan mereka juga sedang kesulitan dalam
mengartikan atau memahami kalimat tersebut. Yang ada,
mereka Cuma bias melakukan “Ngawurisasi” itu Cuma
istrilah jawa artinya mereka menjawab sebisanya tanpa
menggunakan kaidah yang ada. Seorang guru perlu fight
untuk membekali anak didik dalam menjawab soal tipe ini.
 Sebelum dapat menguasai model tipe soal ini anak perlu
menguasai level sebelumnya yaitu soal jumbled words.
5 Cloze test
. Cloze test berati soal kalimat atau paragraf atau dialog
rumpang. Tugas anak adalah mengisi (Fill in the blanks).
Biasanya soal ini untuk mengetes kosa kata (Vocabulary)
anak. Titik-titik atau blank space tersebut biasanya diisi
kata kerja (verb), Auxiliary verbs, noun, adjective, adverb,
part of speech dan lainnya. Selain perbendaharaan kata
anak, pemahaman grammar anak juga ikut
mempengaruhi. Anak juga perlu menguasai grammar dan
struktur kalimat. Soal ini baisanya berkaitan dengan
paragraf berupa genre text atau dialogue based. Untuk
dialog anak mengisi ekspresi tepat.
6 Essay
. Essay adalah model soal uraian. Soal ini adalah soal umum
yang digunakan semua mapel yang ada. Anak menjawab
soal dengan penjelasan, deskripsi dan uraian. Dalam
Bahasa Inggris, soal ini biasanya memuat: informasi
tersurat(eksplisit), tersirat(implicit), gambaran umum teks,
makna kata (synonym/antonym), referensi kata (word
reference), etc. Untuk menjawab ini salah satu skill yang
harus anak kuasai adalah memahami konsep 5W + 1
H(what, when, where, who, why dan How). Karena hampir
semua pertanyaan sering menggunakan formula kata
tanya tersebut.
7. Multiple choice
Multiple choice adalah soal pilihan ganda dimana terdapat opsi
jawaban. Untuk level SMP MTs biasanya terdapat 4 opsi jawaban
(a, b c, dan d) untuk level SMA/MA/SMK biasanya terdapat 5
opsi (a b c d dan e). Soal ini merupakan soal yang paling simple
dan mudah karena terdapat jawaban yang benar di antara opsi
yang diberikan. Anak tidak perlu menguraikan sendiri
jawabanya. Anak hanya diminta memilih satu diantara opsi yang
ada. Model soal semacam ini sudah umum dan selalu digunakan
bahkan untuk UNBK soal seluruhnya berupa pilihan ganda
sebanyak 50 soal untuk soal Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa
Indonesia dan 40 soal untuk Matematika dan IPA.
8. Soal latihan kosa kata (vocabulary based test)
Soal ini adalah pengayaan untuk melatih kosa kata atau
perbendaharaan kata anak. Soal ini juga bisa disebut game atau
permainan namun tujuan akhir adalah mengetes vocab anak
didik. Soal ini berupa:
a. Crossword (TTS/Teka-teki silang)
b. Word Search Puzzle (Menemukan kata dari kata acak)
c. Jumbled letters (Menyusun huruf-huruf acak menjadi kata)
d. Dan lainya.
Pada postingan sebelumnya penulis sudah share kosa kata
(vocabulary) tentang Things in the classroom and in the school
bag, Things in the kitchen, dan publicplaces beserta preposition of
place. Pada kesempatan ini penulis akan mencoba menuliskan kosa
kata Things in the bedroom (benda-benda di kamar tidur),Things in the
bathroom, Things in the garage, Things inthe yard and around the house.
Vocab atau kosa kata tersebut perlu dikuasai anak. Di Chapter IV ini kita
belajar banyak kosa kata mulai dari yang di sekolah maupun di rumah dan
skitarrnya. Setelah mempelajari semua kosa kata yang ada (di buku When
English Rings A Bell) selanjutnya anda akan mempelajari mengenai mengenai
penggunaan Has/Have (verb) yang artinya
