A paragraph is a group of sentences all

about a single main idea. The first line is
indented and is usually the topic sentence.
The next three sentences are detail
sentences that support the main idea. The
last sentence is the closing sentence and is
very similar to the topic or opening sentence.
A group of sentences about one topic is called
a paragraph.
A paragraph is like a sandwich. The slice
of bread on top is the topic sentence. The
detail sentences are the filling in the middle
of the sandwich. The clincher sentence is the
slice of bread on the bottom. This final
sentence completes the package of ideas in
your paragraph sandwich.
