Option A:

Given: A1 = Php 1 000, n = 1 000, d = -1

Solution: Sn = [n÷2] × [2A1 + (n-1) × d]

S10 = [1 000÷2] × [2 (1 000) + (1 000-1) × -1]
= [5] × [2 000 + (-999)]
= 5 × 1 001
= Php 500 500
Option B:

Given: A1 = Php 1, n = 19, r = 2

Solution: Sn = [A1 (1 - r)n] ÷ (1 – r)

S19 = [ 1 (1 - 2)19] ÷ (1 – 2)
= [ 1 (1 – 524 288] ÷ (– 1)
= Php 524 287

b) Which option are you going to take? Explain your choice.

 I would choose option B over option A. This is because after computing for the
total amount that will be obtained, option B has a greater value. It will also consume less time
compared to the 1000 days for the first option.
