Sindak 1941

Ang FILIPINAS sa panahon ng Hapon

Sindak 1941 is a play that tells the story about the sufferings, sacrifices,
resiliency and love of the Filipinos during World War II, under the Japanese regime. It
shows the adverse effects of war and how morality is twisted just to survive, written and
directed by Atty. Vincent M. Tanada.

A mute wanderer, Tatay edong, narrated the story. The story revolves around
the two brothers, Felipe and Nestor. Felipe sacrificed his own education and worked as
a janitor to send his kid brother to school. Nestor was a brilliant student who went into
the shoe-making business after graduation. When Japan attacked the country in 1941,
the paths of the two brothers parted ways. While one went up the mountains to become
a guerrilla warrior, the other collaborated with the Japanese in order to get into their
good favor. In these trying times the star-crossed lovers (Felipe and Sophia, the school
teacher who was Felipe's inspiration. Sophia's beauty attracted the lustful attention of a
cruel Japanese officer and she was held captive and suffered much from this monstrous
slavery, Nestor and Emilia, his classmate who became his doctor, then his wife)
traverse the challenges of Japanese tyranny, meeting an array of colourful characters
such as the brothel owners Mauricia and Salvacion, and the father and son rebels,
Gorio and Pancho. The play showcase the resilience of the Filipino spirit and prove to
the world that despite all the odds, our freedom is fought by and won by the Filipinos.
This play fill in the gaps of our history and pay homage to all the unsung heroes of our
land.

The play was really entertaining and exciting to watch. The play has music and
dance that makes it more cheerful and enjoyable to watch over. The props that they use
in the play was really colorful and realistic that adds to the play. There were some jokes
for comic relief and romantic scenes for "kilig" thrills. Sindak 1941 was really a good
play, the actors and actresses portray their role very well they made us laugh, scream
and cry. They are the ones that made the play great.

SINDAK 1941 give us a spectacular musical experience that would show our
history through the eyes of our countrymen and how the resilience of the Filipinos won
the day for the Philippines. All in all this play was wonderful, I learn many things just by
watching this play, l learn that we should love and be proud of our country, that a love of
siblings will never be broken no matter what happens and I learn too that Filipinos are
the real heroes for fighting the Japanese. Let us love and be proud of our country, fight
for what for our rights, fight for our freedom and never bow to other country.
