International Tourism Destination – A Suggestive Case

ABSTRACT
SMART city is a concept developed to promote growing cities that provide core
infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable
environment, and application of 'Smart' Solutions to day to day problems using digital
technologies. Smart cities use data and technology to create efficiencies, improve
sustainability, create economic development, and enhance the quality of life factors for
people living and working in the city. The smart city due to its ability to provide
comfortability to the people attracts tourist from different places both within the country and
from abroad. Hence with additional systematic planning, a Smart city can be developed as a
National & International tourism centre. This paper proposes how a Smart City concept can
be improved as Smart Tourism City by means a small additional expenditure to attract
tourists from different countries. The paper also proposes how technology and strategy are
useful while proposing a Smart Tourism City by considering the development idea and
infrastructure for Mangalore Smart City as one of the Smart Tourism Cities in the Country
and an international tourism destination. Based on the findings and using suitable technology
for optimizing these infrastructures, the concept of Smart Tourism City can be effectively
realized.
