Read Chapters 15, 16, and 17.

1. For “Derivation of Thermal Energy Equation –

Complete” notes, show all steps in going from Eq. (12)
to Eq. (18). Simplify the final Thermal Energy Equation
for the cases listed on the last page of these notes
(Special Forms of TEE) and not all assumptions made
in these simplifications.

2. Go over the heat wire problem in notes and show

all steps and results, specifically, Eqs. (7) and (8). Also,
verify the maximum temperature of 225F.

Problems from text:

Probs. 15.21, 15.22. Derive the equations for the

heat fluxes and the temperature profiles. Then
answer the questions of the problems.

Probs. 16.1, 16.2, but do not use the equation given,

but derive the governing equations for each problem
using shell thermal energy balances.

Problems 16.11, 16,13, and 16.14.
