2018 Nutrition Month

I. Introduction

The Nutrition Month theme in 2018 is “Ugaliing magtanim, Sapat na

Nutrisyon Aanihin”, this theme focuses on food production at home through the
family’s own garden. This is the food planted at home, in your little backyard or farm.
The Nutrition Month theme 2018maims to improve the healthy food
consumption of Filipinos, food security or to self-sufficient as possible with backyard
gardening.
Remember this year’s Nutrition Month theme surrounds on the idea of family
food gardening.

II. Highlights of Activities Undertaken

The celebration was started by a short opening program with all the learners
and faculty teachers of Maralag Elementary School as well as some parents. It was
formally opened with an invocation and followed by the singing of National Anthem.
It was followed by a welcome remark from Mrs. Daisy O. Calumpang and at the
same time we launched the Oplan Kalusugan (Ok sa DepEd) and Wellness Campus.
It was followed by a message of Mrs. Yolanda F. Garrido, the school principal. The
learners, the teachers and the audience was requested to dance together with the
selected pupils for the new Wellness Campus Dancercise. It was followed by the
reading of different activities and their schedules from Mrs. Luella S. Maceda,
nutrition coordinator. The lady of ceremony was Mrs. Herminigilda A. Cueco, Grade
V- Venus adviser.
Moreover, different activities conducted weekly starting with Poster Making
(July 13,2018) at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon. In the afternoon of July 20,2018, 3:00
p.m., Slogan Contest was also conducted with the active participation of Grade IV, V
and VI advisers. Before the culmination program, the event was highlighted with
displaying o different vegetables and cooking of every grade levels. In July 31,2018,
the program again started with an invocation and singing of Pambansang Awit. It was
followed by an opening remarks by Mrs. Daisy O. Calumpang. The learners, the
teachers, and the audience was entertained by an intermission number by Ashliah
Shandra Catacutan, Grade I- Blue pupil. It was followed by an induction of
GPTA/SPG officers SY 2018-2019 by Hon. Stanley Keith B. Saycon, Brgy. Captain
and then followed with a message from the Brgy. Captain. Again, the winners from
the District elimination presented their performances. The last part was a closing
remarks by Mr. Melbourne Manaban. The lady of ceremony was Mrs. Luella S.
Maceda, School Nutrition Coordinator and Grade IV Molave adviser.
