Introduction
This reference booklet contains many of
the acronyms found on various Otis wiring
diagrams. The acronyms are those found
on Otis’ relay and microprocessor based
traction and hydraulic elevator systems
up to and including the latest ELEVONIC®
systems.
Note that over the years, some acronyms
have taken on different meanings on
different diagrams. For example, the
acronym PS may refer to a Potential
Switch, a Power Supply, or a Pressure
Switch, depending on the age of the
diagram and type of elevator system.
Many Otis wiring diagram acronyms refer
to “modules.” Modules are the variable
features shown on base diagrams.

General Information about “Modules”
Note that any underlined designation (or
acronym) on an Otis wiring diagram is
referred to as a module.
The letter “X” preceding a module
designation represents “without” (w/o).
For Example:
