COMMENTS ON OPERATION PROCEDURE (Weatherford Document 19-SDS-

WFT460403-ENG-004)

1. Page 3 of 44
 Take out pressurized (12 ¼” Drilling has no pressure in annulus)

2. Page 4 of 44
 Take out paragraph 5.1.3 (use only conventional method)
MPD system is not a well control equipment as per CR

3. Page 9 of 44
 Take out pressurized (few times)
 Take out associated annulus surface pressure
 Take out bullheading

4. Page 11 of 44
 Write the threshold values and time for Kick and loss

5. Pages 13 to 18 of 44
 Clear procedure to drill out cement such as
o Dill out Float collar + 5 meters cement below FC with such
parameters
o Circulate hole until shakers clean
o Pick up 9 m off bottom
o Perform well control drill through rig choke
o Pull out 3 stands
o Pick up and install bearing assy in RCD housing
o Perform fingerprinting with both crews
During fingerprinting assess the minimum flow rates needed
to have PWD and other logging tools informations at surface
Note that this may change as mud weight increase
o Take out bearing assy

o Perform SCR’s
o RIH & Drill out remaining shoe track + 3 meters formation
o Circulate hole until shakers clean
o Pull bit inside casing
o Perform the required FIT/LOT,
o Drilling to …… (MD/TVD be defined)
o At ….. m , circulate hole clean, pull out 3 stands
o Pick up and install bearing assy in RCD bearing
Keep in mind that the CBHP needs to start at least one day
prior really needed in order for both crews to be familiarized
with this system

MANAGE TO HAVE THE SAME DRILLING CREWS UNTIL TD

AND FINAL TRIP OUT.

AVOID ANY CREW CHANGE DURING THESE +/- 3 days (if

possible)

Define a percentage gas value when you want to go through

MGS

o RIH and resume drilling in CBHP mode (only for connections)

(avoid if possible any transfer in active pit)
Communication between Driller, Weatherford on rig floor,
ML and Mud Supervisor is a must
Ensure the driller has an up to date connection table

Wording is completnot rightely and has to be rewrited again
For tripping in and out simulations have to be done with the latest mud
rheogy, TMD & TVD
We need to consider 3 cases

A. Tripping out BEFORE CHBP section due to event

B. Tripping out when in the CBHP section due to event
C. Tripping out after reaching section TD

A. Tripping out BEFORE CHBP section due to event

This is a conventional trip and PHM procedures will be used

B. Tripping out when in the CBHP section due to event
Pump out to shoe (ECD to check carefully every 100 m for example
as we will need also SBP) and use calculated SBP for stand rack
back
At shoe circulate heavy mud weight to compensate for the loss of
ECD
(to be done by step according to simulation and has to be very well
explained to the rig Supervisors personnel)
Simulation to be ready in time
(Check BHP versus bit depth)
Cannot afford in this tripping case to loose ECD and SBP (meaning
no pump failure and no rig power failure)

C. Tripping out after reaching section TD

Increase mud weight as per program (follow simulation and PWD
reading if possible)
Flow check
Pumping out (follow simulation) until being just above the CBHP
section
Pull out conventionally using PHM procedures

7. Page 22 of 44
Tripping in
Here also we need to consider 3 cases

A. Tripping in because we pulled out for an event BEFORE the

CBHP section
B. Tripping in because we pulled out for an event when in the
CBHP section
C. Tripping in for wiper trip after logging (optional)

A. Tripping in because we pulled out for an event BEFORE the

CBHP section
This a conventional trip in and PHM procedures shall be applied

B. Tripping in because we pulled out for an event when in the

CBHP section
The mud weight above the shoe is heavy mud weight and will
have to be replaced by drilling mud weight (follow simulation to
avoid losses meaning step flow rate)

Assess carefully the possibility of shallow test of downhole tools
including PWD (you have heavy mud)
Washing down in open hole with +/- 1.64 SG (SP-112) but using
SBP for connection (or tripping in using all times SBP)
Check ECD as this will be probably not sufficient and SBP will
have to be applied
Simulation has to be done also at different depths

C. Tripping in for wiper trip after logging (optional)

Mud weight will be higher around 1.68 SG so flow rate to be
used will be as per simulation meaning low flow rate around
400lpm
Assess carefully the possibility of shallow test of downhole tools
including PWD (you have +/- 1.68 SG in the well)

8. Page 28 to 32 of 44
Well control shall be CONVENTIONAL as MPD system is not a Well
Control Equipment
INFLUX DETECTION : Yes using EKD (check the threshold values)
DO NOT USE WEATHERFORD ‘’default’’ value of 15gpm/15sec
which is 57lpm/15sec.Coriolis will not detect a kick below 3m3/hour
Use 15lpm/15sec: If alarm goes too often, fine tune by increasing to
20lpm/15sec

Page 30: Conventional well control

If there is an influx detected by MFC system, perform flow check = NO
Follow rule/poster :SECURE WELL FIRST

Page 33 : Correct paragraph 13. personnel as we have 3 persons per shift

9. Page 34 :
Paragraph 7.3 : PHM to decide at which percentage of gas, the mud has
to go through the Mud Gas separator
Paragraph 7.4 : Mud cooler to be used

10.Page 37
Paragraph 7.12 : add back up with Geolog

14 August and 15 August 2019
11.Page 38 :
Paragraph 7.14 : This is part of fingerprinting and a procedure has to be
written and socialized to all people involved (take care if crew changes)
Paragraph 7.15 : washout can be also identified with the PWD if washout
is above PWD

END
