Weekly report 3
No of hours: 2, 2 pm - 4 pm
This drive was conducted on the 23rd of july in Mosque road, Frazer Town, Bangalore and
was part of the RISE project of KYF, RISE here stands for ‘Responsibility to inform about
safe eradication’ and is an effort on the part of the organisation to educate target groups on
matters of importance like safe waste segregation and public cleanliness.
After putting up these posters, we met with several residents around the area and asked if
they segregate their waste and if so, what methods of waste segregation they followed. We
then went on to educate them on the correct methods of waste segregation. We also briefed
them about KIRAT YOUTH FOUNDATION and the work we do towards a cleaner more
hygienic environment.
We chose Frazer town for it is a residential area and hence was a perfect spot for us to put
up posters about KYF and waste segregation for, being well populated, the area would
attract a lot of attention. Also, it gave us a chance to address various residents on
segregation and proper disposal of waste.
Our drive for the week benefited a lot of residents in Frazer town, for it educated them about
the importance of waste disposal and why it is mandatory to have proper waste segregation
systems put into place. The posters we put up providing information about the same, also
benefited both these residents as well as many passer by’s.
Through the drive we learned that a lot of people, though educated are still unaware about
the importance of waste disposal and how necessary it is for the betterment of your
immediate environment. It also gave me the chance to learn how to properly educate these
people on waste segregation and its significance.
This drive helped us to create general awareness regarding the importance of waste
disposal and educate target groups on adopting proper systems of waste segregation.
