This study examines multi-hop multi-band multi-radio wireless local area networks (WLANs) to minimize end-to-end delay and maximize throughput. It acknowledges that simultaneous multiband transmission in WLAN systems can increase coverage area without additional power but that differing data rates between nodes can cause buffer overflows and packet reordering delays. The study will design mixed integer linear programs and mixed integer non-linear programs to optimize scheduling and address these issues to reduce delay and improve throughput.

A Study on Multi-Hop Multi-Band Multi-Radio WLAN Systems
ABSTRACT: Multi-hop relay networks are deployed to restore communication environment
in the catastrophe stricken area. The main purpose of multiband transmission over multi radio is to minimize the end-to-end delay and maximize the throughput employing WLAN system and multi-hop relay network. However with the increase of bandwidth intensive applications, the future wireless networks are believed to carry high data rates, high throughput, and low latency. Simultaneous multiband transmission in WLAN systems is believed to increase the coverage area without power escalation. Firstly however, despite its potential, difference in data rate between source-relay node and relay-destination node causes data loss from buffer overflow. Secondly, because of inefficient traffic scheduling, packets arrive out of order and causes packet re-ordering delay. To solve this problem we will first highlight the factors that affect the throughput and end- to-end delay. Based on these factors, we will design mixed integer linear program (MILP) or mixed integer non-linear program (MINLP) that aimed to minimize the end-to-end delay and maximize the throughput.
