DESIGN OF RIGHT SIDE DIVERSION CHANNEL CROSS-SECTION

Discharge required = 76.000 cusecs

The following are the basic data assumed
Bed width,B = 3.00 mts varies as per G.L
F S D,d = 3.20 mts 0.60
Side slopes = 2.5 : 1 2.5 :1
Bed fall,s = 1in 1000 3.20
Value of n = 0.02 3.00
B/D Ratio = 0.938

Area,(A) = (B + nd)xd = ( 3 +2.5x 3.2 ) x 3.2) = 35.200 sq.mts

Slope length L = = (Sqrt(3.2 )^2 + ( 2.5 x 3.2 )^2) = 5.987 mts
Wetted perimeter,p = (B+2xL) = 3 + 2 x 5.987 ) = 14.9740 mts
Hydraulic mean depth (R = R = A / P = 35.2 /14.974 = 2.351 mts
R 2/3 = = (2.351) 2/3
= 1.768 mts
Velocity(V) = 1/n x R 2/3x S1/2 = ` = 2.312 m/sec
Discharge,(Q) = AxV = 35.2 x2.312 = 81.382 cumecs
Design discharge is MORE than required discharge = 76.000 cumecs
Hence above section is adopted..
