I
entered the room and there was another door then there are lots of computers. As I
enter, the man who is in charge to one of the facilities at the center approach me and
asked me if I have something to do or need then I replied that I need to create an
account. He assists me, the first thing that he says to me is to write my name on a log
book as an attendance of the students who are going. Then he came to one of the
computers and called me to go there and fill up the Library Patron’s Account Form
needed to activate my account. As I finished filling up, I pass my personal pieces of
information and he takes some pictures of mine as a proof then after that I got my
account.
When borrowing a book, I check the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)
provided at the computers outside the room where I created my account then I
searched for the book that I was interested. I typed the "architecture" in the search
bar and there was a lot of books to offer. I keep on scrolling until I have one book to
pick. As I was checking the info of the book, I grab one of the borrower's slip and fill
it up. The borrower's slip contains the date, call no., location, copyright, author and
title of the book; name, department, and course/year and section of the borrower.
The book was titled "Advanced Computer Architecture: a system design approach"
by Richard Y. Kain which was located at College of Engineering and Architecture
Library. I borrowed the book on Thursday, October 9, 2018. Its call no. is QA 76.9
A73 K13 1996 and its accession no. is 96-8259, the difference between these
numbers is that the call number is normally printed on the book spine while the
accession number is the simple sequence number to register each new book
acquired in a library. The book that I borrowed is my responsibility until it is
returned to the location where it was borrowed.
The Center is open from Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Saturdays,
from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
