Irish Blessing

Author: Anonymous
May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:

May you see your children's children.

May you be poor in misfortune,

Rich in blessings.

May you know nothing but happiness

From this day forward.

May the road rise up to meet you

May the wind be always at your back

May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home

And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,

May blue be the skies above you,

May pure be the joys that surround you,

May true be the hearts that love you

I have grown up knowing very knowledgeable of my roots in the Checz Republic, but in
the last few years, I have become very passionate in my roots in Ireland. About 5 years
ago, I found out that I had Irish ancestors, and ever since then I have been fascinated
in their culture and their beliefs and traditions. This Irish Blessing was something that I
sang at high school graduations when I was a Freshman and Sophomore. Then when I
was in Ireland in the spring, I found this blessing all over the country. It has always had
a lot of meaning to me both because it is something I sang a lot in high school, and
then also because it really reminds me of a culture that is a part of me.

Irish Tradition Limerick

I Wait and Climb to Kiss a wall

And Pray they will not let me fall
And then I’m done and take a look
An Irish Tradition is in the books
The Blarney Stone gave good luck to all.
