Activity: Catch the Dragon’s Tail


Group Size: 10 person
Materials: Handkerchief for each dragon , cones for the boundaries.
Objective: To catch the opposing teams handkerchief.
Mechanics:

1. Split into two teams and then have the teams get in a single file line.
2. Have each team put their arms around the persons waist in front of them. They are going to
form a train.
3. The person in the rear puts the handkerchief in they back pocket or puts in down their pants
so that the handkerchief hanging out.
4. The object of the game is for each dragon to move as one unit towards another dragon. They
will try to catch the opposing teams handkerchief. They must do this without breaking the
chain of people.
5. Only the leader of the dragon may catch the handkerchief.
6. They should not break other person’s chain if they do their group is disqualified.

Activity: Sack race


Group size: 10 person
Materials: Big empty sack
Objective: Move to and from Point A and Point B while inside a sack.
Mechanics:

1. Participants are divided into teams.


2. All teams line up at Point A facing a Point B
3. Only one empty sack per team is placed in front each team
4. When the facilitator gives the signal to begin the race, the first person goes into the sack and
hops towards Point B and goes back to Point A and lets the next person go through the same
process.
5. If within the activity the participants fall off or gets out of the ack that person has to make the
trip again.
6. The first group whose entire team has made the trip to and from Point B wins.

Activity: Palo Sebo


Participants: 5 players/ curriculum
Materials: 7-meter bamboo pole with a 10.6cm diameter, grease, small bag with prize
Objective: To get the bag full of prizes by climbing the bamboo pole.
Mechanics:
1. Each team is given 3 minutes to get the flaglet at the top of the pole.

I. Objectives:
A. General Objective:To appreciate the Filipino culture and tradition through Philippine folk
songs intranslation.B. Specific Objectives:1. To learn about unfamiliar words included in the
translations.2. To supply words deleted from the cloze by listening to the song.3. To sing the
translated song with a group.4. To translate their chosen Filipino folk song.
II. Procedures
A. Motivation (5 min.)

The teacher presents a video clip of a Korean folk song and tells the pupils a shortbackground
about the song.

The teacher asks the pupils to sing the song in Korean, in English and in Filipino.

The pupils sing the song.B. Unlocking Difficulties (5 min.)

The teacher asks a few pupils to look at pictures which were placed by him underneath
theirchairs before the class.

The pupils look at the pictures while the teacher posts strips of cartolina with difficult
wordswritten in them on the board.

The teacher instructs the pupils to try matching the picture with the appropriate word onthe
board. The teacher may encourage other pupils to help their classmates match thewords with

The teacher asks: How could you become an instrument of the preservation of Filipinoculture
and tradition?
III. Evaluation

The teacher will group the pupils.


Teacher’s instructions:
Think of a local folk song. Translate them in English, making sure that it follows the melody.
Singthe folk song you translated in class. The group which produces an exceptional output will
receive aprize.
