Call for Papers


BELTA Journal
Volume 4, Issue 1, June 2020

BELTA Journal, the official journal of Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association, is
a vehicle of sharing ideas among English language teachers, trainers, researchers, policy
makers, and practitioners in order to promote better English language education at all
levels in Bangladesh. It is a double blind peer reviewed journal committed to publishing
high quality papers in the broad area of English Language teaching and learning. The
journal maintains an international focus while at the same time encourages articles on
praxis of English education in Bangladesh. It accepts contributions of scholars from home
and abroad.

The Editorial team of BELTA Journal would like to invite papers from scholars for its fourth
volume. We welcome papers and book reviews relevant to English language teaching and
learning. The focuses of the journal are (but not limited to):
- Linguistics
- Applied linguistics
- Education
- Second Language Acquisition
- Language Policy and Planning: Changes and innovations and resistances
- Multilingualism and Multiculturalism: central and peripheral issues
- Testing and Evaluation: Rules versus reality
- Foreign theories of language learning and teaching: Boon or bane
- Language Teaching and Technology: Challenges and opportunities
- Teacher education: Sustainability and self-realization
- Recent Innovation in Syllabus, curriculum and materials
- New paradigms of educational practices and research
- Interdisciplinary scope of ELT
- Literature and language teaching
- Language across curriculum

Guide for authors


1. Deadline for manuscript submission: December 31, 2019.
2. Words limit: Not more than 5000 words (including abstract, the main article,
references, appendices, acknowledgment, and author’s biography).
3. Book review in not more than 1000 words. The book must be published within the
last five years from standard and approved publishing house.
4. Times New Roman in 11 point font size is to be followed. Double space must be
there. Pagination should be 1 inch on all sides on an A4 paper.
5. APA 6th style sheet should be followed.
6. The author’s details and contact should be on a separate page (first page), and the
abstract and the article should start from the second page.
7. Article title should be in 14 font size and in bold and the author’s name should be in
12 font size and bold.
8. Tables, charts, graphs should be numbered and clearly visible in black and white
(Follow APA style).
9. Follow Sage UK Style Guide for heading and sub-heading.
10. If there is any acknowledgment or declaration, it should be mentioned before
references. Appendices should be placed after references. Please avoid long
appendices.
11. Write-ups submitted elsewhere must not be submitted here.
12. Endnotes, instead of footnotes, should be used.
13. Authors will be responsible for plagiarism. Plagiarized writing from any author might
result in cancelling that particular author from submitting writing in this journal
later on.

Special Request to authors for increasing citation:


i. Authors are requested to open an account and get an ORCID profile (https://orcid.org/).
They should mention the id beside their name while submitting the article for review.
Once the article is published, they should upload publication details in ORCID profile.
ii. They are requested to open an account in researchgate (https://www.researchgate.net/)
and upload their article after publication;
iii. They are requested to open an account in GoogleScholar (https://scholar.google.com/),
get a GoogleScholar profile, and upload the article details after publication
iv. They are requested to open an account in academia (https://www.academia.edu/) and
upload the article after publication.

While tagging the articles, please mention the name of the journal ‘BELTA Journal’

Review process
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the Editorial Board. Manuscripts
that pass initial screening are sent for peer review (double blind). The Editorial board
considers the reports of peer reviewers and makes the final decision to accept or reject the
manuscript for publication. Articles may be rejected at any stage of the review process.

Benefits for authors


Authors of the published papers receive two specimen copies.

The journal is published as hard copy. It is also available online on the official website
