DAILY LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 6

First Quarter
Week 1Day 1
June 3, 2019
Section and Time
Felicity: 8:21 - 9:10 A.M.
Fair: 10:16 - 11:05 A.M.
Faithful: 1:01 - 1:50 P.M.
Fortitude: 1:51 – 2:40 P.M.
Fidelity: 2:40 - 3:30
I. OBJECTIVES:
Content Standards:
The learners demonstrate understanding of different types of mixtures and their characteristics
Performance Standard:
The learners should be able to prepare beneficial and useful mixtures such as drinks, food and herbal
medicines
Learning Competencies/Objectives:
The learners should be able to describe the appearance and uses of uniform and non-uniform mixtures
Recall the states of matter
Code:
S6MT-Ia-c-1a

II. CONTENT: Matter and Three Physical States of Matter

III. LEARNING RESOURCES:
A. Reference
1. Teacher’s Guide
2. Learner’s Materials pages
3. Textbook Pages: Science Links Worktext in Science and Technology page 36 & 39
4. Additional Materials from Learning Resources (LR) portal
B. Other Learning Resources
Multimedia Presentations
IV. PROCEDURES:
Teacher’s Activity Pupils’ Activity

ENGAGED
A. Reviewing previous lesson or
presenting the new lesson
Picture Analysis. The teacher should show Pupils will identify the pictures as:
three pictures referring to solid, liquid and a. wood (solid)
gas.
Guide Questions:
a. What can you observe/see in the pictures
given? b. water in a container (liquid)
b. What could be the relationship of the
three pictures?

c. smoke (gas)

they are state of matter

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

(PROBLEM)
Before we start our lesson today, we will have an Activity 1:
activity. MATTER DRAW
Instructions: Learners will draw/illustrate the three states of
a. Each group is given materials matter based on their prior knowledge.
b. Illustrate the three states of matter for 3min.
c. Present your outputs in front of the class
Teacher will check groups’ answers as to the
correct illustration of the three states of matter.
For all we know matter is made up of the
smallest particle of matter called molecules
Pupils’ listen

A molecule is made up of a particle called an

atom

Molecules are arranged and behave in solid,

liquid and gas states

Particles are present in the following objects.

It is important to learn about matter because

we are surrounded with it.
Today, at the end of our lesson you will be
able to:
a. Identify the three states of matter.
b. Describe the distinct characteristics of each
state of matter
c. Cite examples on how to keep
hazardous or flammable materials at
home.

EXPLORE
C. Presenting examples/instances of the ACTIVITY 2: WHO AM I?
new lesson
For your next activity, these are the
instructions:
1. Each group will be given picture of (1) state
of matter
2. Describe the state of matter that you have Picture
for 3 minutes of Solid
3. You can give descriptions or characteristics
as many as you can
Group reporting will follow
Group 1 – Solid
Group 2 – Liquid
Group 3 – Gas
Group 4 – Solid
Group 5 - Liquid
Group 6 – Gas

(Group Presentations of outputs and teacher

processes the pupils’ answers.)

EXPLAIN ( interaction between teacher

and pupils)
D. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills # 1
(FILM VIEWING about Matter and Three
Physical States of Matter) ACTIVITY 3: Watch and Learn
I will play a video clip describing matter
and three physical states of matter. Let us State of Matter Distinct
see if you got some correct answers in your Characteristics
previous activity. Solid
Before watching the videos, Let us have Liquid
some directions to follow: Gas
1. Activity Sheets (table) is given to the
same group.
(LET THE PUPILS TAKE DOWN NOTES
WHILE WATCHING)
2. The group will complete the table after
watching the videos.
3. Presentation of outputs follows (Pupils watch Video)

F. Developing mastery (leads to
Formative Assessment 3)
(The teacher shows the table with complete answers to the
class. She elaborates or further explains the table shown.)
State of Distinct Characteristic of Matter
Matter
Solids  have definite volume and shape because
molecules are packed closely together.
 seem to move or vibrate back and forth in only
one fixed position.
 force that holds the molecules is very string.
movement is very limited
 only vibrate back and forth, which is why they
have definite shape and volume.
Liquids  have definite volume but no definite shape and
takes the shape of the container.
 molecules are loosely packed and have spaces in
between.
 the molecules can roll, glide, and take the shape
of the container.
 molecules are slightly apart from each other, so
they flow freely.
 forces in molecules of are not as strong as solid.
Gases  have no definite shape and volume.
 molecules are far from each other.
 constantly move in all directions.
 fill the shape of the container, the force between
the molecules is weak.
 have neither definite volume nor shape.

G. Finding practical applications of

concepts and skills in daily living.
Keep in a safe place, away from the reach
Values Integration:
Have you noticed that there are materials made of small children

abstraction about the lessons.
Misconception Check:
Identify the state of matter being describe.
1. Have definite volume and shape because molecules Solid
are packed closely together.
2. Molecules are loosely packed and have spaces in Liquid
between.
3. Constantly move in all directions. Gas
4. Molecules are slightly apart from each other, so they Gas
flow freely.
5. Only vibrate back and forth, which is why they have Liquid
definite shape and volume.

EVALUATION
Additional activities for applications or
remediation.
Matching Type:
Directions:
Match the in Column A the Distinct
Characteristics of matter to its State of Matter in
Column B.
Write only the letter of your answer.
A B
1. ____seem to move or vibrate A. Liquid
back and forth in only B. Gas
one fixed position. C. Solid
2. ____the molecules can roll, glide,
and take the shape of the container.
3. ____molecules are far from each other.
4. force that holds the molecules is
____very string. movement is very
limited
5. ____ have neither definite volume
nor shape.
V. REMARKS:

VI. REFLECTION:
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who continue to require remediation.
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation.
E. Which of my teaching worked well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve.
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with other
teachers?
