ADMISSION TO THE JURIS DOCTOR (J.D.) PROGRAM


ADMISSION TO THE J.D.
PROGRAM Eligibility for Admission

To qualify for admission to the J.D. Program, the applicant must have obtained a Bachelor's
J.D. CURRICULUM
Degree in Arts or Sciences, or a higher academic degree, from an authorized and
recognized university or college. Following requirements set by the Legal Education Board
CORE SUBJECTS (LEB), in order to qualify for an ALS diploma, the applicant must have completed at least
eighteen (18) units of English, six (6) units of Mathematics, eighteen (18) units of Social
Science subjects, and at least three (3) units of a Rizal course.
ELECTIVE COURSES

Please note that pursuant to ALS policies, persons who have enrolled and have been
APPRENTICESHIP graded in at least one (1) semester in any law school are not eligible for admission to the
PROGRAM J.D. Program.

Decisions regarding admission are made by the Dean, upon the recommendation of the
METHODS OF Admissions Committee, and taking into consideration the applicant's scholastic records and
INSTRUCTION abilities, entrance exam results, and character references.

Admission Requirements for Academic Year 2019-2020


J.D. THESIS

The applicant must accomplish the online application form which will be accessible on this
TUITION & FEES page on November 1, 2018. Please take note that the online application will require you to
upload the following documents:
Photocopy of collegiate transcript of records
SCHOLARSHIPS &
If graduation is not yet reflected in the transcript, a true copy of grades or a
STUDENT LOANS
certification of candidacy for graduation.
PhilSAT results or Certificate of Exemption (if already available)
It is not mandatory to take the PhilSAT prior to application; but to be qualified for
admission for Academic Year 2019-2020, you must have taken the PhilSAT prior
to enrollment.

All applications must be made online and submitted by February 22, 2019.

After the successful completion and review of the online application, the applicant will then
be notified to pay the fee (Php 3,500.00) for the ALS Entrance Examination. ALS will
assign the date on which the applicant is to take the examination.

In addition to hard copies of uploaded documents, the applicant is also required to cause
the submission of two recommendations coming from (i) the dean of the applicant’s school
or a former professor, and (ii) someone, not a relative or friend, who knows the applicant
well enough to provide a true character reference. Such recommendations should be
accomplished on the required recommendation form. Once completed, these forms must
be submitted to ALS in sealed and signed envelopes.

ALS ENTRANCE EXAM TO BE ADMINISTERED IN CEBU

The Ateneo Law School is conducting a one-day offsite entrance examination in Metro
Cebu on Saturday, April 6, 2019. The testing site will be at the Sacred Heart School –
Ateneo de Cebu, H. Abellana St., Mandaue City. The time will be announced to the
applicants upon signing up.

If you wish to take the entrance exam in Cebu, you must still complete the online
application as well as make arrangements (proxy/representative allowed) to pay the
entrance examination fee and get the exam permit from the Admissions Office of the
Ateneo Law School located at the Ateneo Professional Schools Building, No. 20
Rockwell Drive, Rockwell Center, Makati City. You will also need to inform the
Admissions Office that you will take the exam in Cebu when you or your
proxy/representative make arrangements to schedule the exam.

For those who wish to take the exam in Cebu, but who have already applied online and
have scheduled to take their exam in Manila please call the Admissions Office at +632
8997691 to 96 loc. 2304 or 2307, or email admissions.law@ateneo.edu, and request for
a change in exam schedule and venue on or before Friday, February 22, 2019.

Please take note that it is ALS which assigns the exam date for each applicant.

Interview Period:
- May 2 to June 14, 2019
Interviews (for those requested to undergo an interview) will be conducted only on ALS-
assigned dates within the given period. Each applicant is responsible for ensuring that
he/she is available when required.
