SAVANNAH PHILHARMONIC EXPANDS INTEGRATIVE

MEDICINE PROGRAM
-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

SAVANNAH, GA – October 10, 2018 – The Savannah Philharmonic announces the expansion
of their Integrative Medicine Program to include the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer and
Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s Candler. Starting Wednesday, Oct. 10, Savannah Philharmonic
musicians will perform at the Pavilion every second and fourth Wednesday for cancer patients
undergoing treatment. Musicians will perform selections in the lobby which will resonate
throughout the main and upper level floors for all to appreciate.

On Oct. 10, Kristin King, classical and contemporary professional harpist of thirty years, will
perform. Yvonne Johnson, Savannah Philharmonic assistant-principal violist and local music
instructor, will perform on Oct. 24.

Integrative medicine takes a holistic approach to patient treatment, considering mind, body and
spirt. The Integrative Medicine Program was created by Savannah’s Philharmonic to share the
powerful connection between healing and music with patients in local healthcare facilities.
Savannah Philharmonic musicians regularly perform live in partnership with the Curtis and
Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute, and the Willett Children’s Hospital at Memorial. The free
program has already reached countless patients, caregivers and families as they undergo
treatment and is set to touch the lives of many more through the new collaboration with the
Nancy N, and J. C. Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion.

“Community outreach is a vital part of our mission and we are passionate about our Integrative
Medicine Program,” said Savannah Philharmonic Education and Outreach Coordinator Kristen
Spiridon. “We are honored to now share our music with the Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion
at St. Joseph’s Candler for our harmonious tenth season and beyond.”
