HSM #2 Reheating Furnace Refractory Work at

1. Cause and Description (see the picture attached)

1. Almost all roof in reheating furnace have cracks or spallings on refractory works (unfired zone until soaking zone).

2. Cracks or Spallings not only occur in refractory zone which exposed to water, but also in zones that are not exposed to water.

3. Severe cracks have gaps that range around 8-15mm, there are even some cracks or spalling that penetrate to the outer layer of the reheating furnace

2. Corrective Action Request (CAR)

1. SMS shall provide repairing procedure for all refractory which has small spalling. For severe spalling, Contractor have to dismantle the refractory and replace it with a
new one.

2. QC from PTKE should proactive to monitor and check refractory quality on furnace!
