Schools and Study Programs

Study Programs (Bachelor and Master) are associated to Schools:

• Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering,
• Design,
• Civil, Environmental and Land Management Engineering,
• Industrial and Information Engineering.

The Dean is the head of the School and through specific groups (Board and
Council) guides the teaching activities of all study programs.
The Professor-Student Joint Committee monitors the performance indicators
of the study programs and makes proposals for their improvement.
Each study program is led by a Coordinator, a reference point for all
students.
Professor-Student Joint Committee

It is made up of 5 professors and 5

Students Representatives:
students.
The Committee has the task of:
Beatrice Bartolozzi
• Monitoring the educational offer, the
quality of teaching and services to the
students Giacomo Buratti
• Identifying indicators for the
evaluation of the educational offer Antonella Polimeno Camastra
• Making proposals for the
improvement of the study programs to Laurens Lanzillo
be addressed to the Dean and the
Evaluation Unit. Pietro Rossetti
Reference persons for your Study Program

You are enrolled in the Study Program of Telecommunications Engineering which is part of the
School of industrial and Information Engineering

The Dean of the School is prof. Antonio Capone, antonio.capone@polimi.it

The Coordinator of your study program is prof. Matteo Cesana, matteo.cesana@polimi.it

Student Representative in your Study Program is Ramkumar Ramadoss,

ramkumar.ramadoss@mail.polimi.it
The Student Ombuds Office

Students who wish to complain about behavior that violates the university
regulations and the rights and duties of students of POLIMI may contact the
Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman acts after a non-anonymous complaint is made, carries out an
adequate investigation into the matter and tries to solve it, protects the student
against any reprisals, informs the complainant and the student representatives of
the outcome of the inquiry.
The Ombudsman is Prof. Gerardus Janszen.

The student role
The role of Students and their Representatives

Students have the right to participate in the life and governance

of the University through their Representatives. They are asked
to express their opinion on the University management bodies.

Student Representatives are elected directly by you.

The elections are held every 2 years and are an important

opportunity to make students voices heard

Student Representatives are the simplest and most effective

way of conveying students' proposals and requests on basic
subjects, such as teaching and services for students, to the
appropriate management bodies.
The role of Students and their Representatives

The commitment of the Student Representatives has allowed POLIMI to achieve several positive results
such as:
- The reorganization of educational activities
- Benefits of the «Right to Education» (including scholarships for low income students)
- Exemptions to tuition fees for top students

You do have the opportunity to influence with your ideas the University decision processes:
• Get in contact with Student Representatives and tell them your suggestions
• Consider candidate yourself to become a Representative
Students’ opinion on teaching (1/2)

The survey of student’s opinions is one of the main tools for monitoring the quality of teaching:

Filling in an ANONYMOUS online questionnaire for each course is MANDATORY for enrollment in
exams

By completing the questionnaire, students actively participate in the process of quality improvement.

The questions concern: Since your opinions are highly considered, you are invited to:
- teaching − Pay particular attention to the questionnaire
- teachers compilation,
- teaching assistant activities − Give informed and consistent answers to the questions,
- infrastructures − Provide proactive and constructive comments.

Tutoring
Tutoring services offered by your School

The tutoring services of the School supports student during their

studies with student-tutors and reference-teachers.
Tutors have the task of:
- Be a reference point for problems related to teaching activities
- Helping students that have issues with specific courses with
clarifications on unclear concepts and excercises

The School offers different tutoring opportunities to its students. The approach includes
some peer tutoring services, provided on-demand, and more traditional tutoring services,
provided on established schedule.

http://www.ingindinf.polimi.it/en/students/tutoring/
Tutoring for Master students

Equalization tutoring peer-to-peer: the service is dedicated principally to international students.

More experienced student-tutors provide help, individually or in small groups of 3-4 people, on the
basic courses of the MSc programmes. It is possible to request tutoring both during the semester of
course delivery, and at other times of the year by emailing tutorato-ingegneria@polimi.it.

Specific tutoring: tutorials held by PhD students and expert teachers on some courses selected
from the different programmes (information provided by the course lecturer)
International exchange programs
Experience abroad

POLIMI offers to students

many opportunities for gaining
experience abroad :
• Study mobility (get credits
attending courses and
activities in partner
universities)
• Double degrees (get two
degrees, one in POLIMI
and one in the partner
university)
