Job analysis is the process of gathering and analyzing information about the content and

the human requirements of jobs, as well as, the context in which jobs are performed. This

process is used to determine placement of jobs.

Job analysis defines the organization of jobs within a job family. It allows units to identify

paths of job progression for employees interested in improving their opportunities for career

advancement and increasing compensation.1

Presently, the Go Forward company is facing the issue of high turnover rate. There is also

the shortage of store related staff especially store managers. The Company has hired Yong

Kim, an HR executive, to evaluate the hiring process and provide training to the store

managers. The Company also wants Yong Kim to analyze the reasons for leaving the job at

the faster rate, the job requirements for the position of store managers, and develop training

modules accordingly. The Store Manager plans and directs the day-to-day operations of the

store. Develop strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, increase profitability,

create store policies and marketing programs that will increase sales and grow the existing

customer base. Maintain high store standards and conditions and foster a positive environment.

Moreover, a store manager must ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved and

service is quick and efficient. Ensure all products and displays are merchandised effectively to

maximize sales and profitability. Forecast staffing needs and develop a recruiting strategy to

provide optimal staffing in all areas.

It also may require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent at least 5 years of experience in the

field or in a related area., familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures,

rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, lead and direct the

work of others, typically reports to top management. The successful candidate will maintain and

adjust operations to stay within the corporate budget and make any changes necessary to sustain

the projected profit margin for each quarter.

Store Manager position requires certain responsibilities and duties. The responsibilities

and duties section is the most important part of the job description. Here you should outline

the functions this position will perform on a regular basis, how the job functions within the

organization and who the job reports to.

Next, outline the required and preferred skills for your position. This may include education,

previous job experience, certifications and technical skills. You may also include soft skills

and personality traits that you envision for a successful hire. While it may be tempting to

include a long list of skills and requirements, including too many could dissuade qualified

candidates from applying. Keep your list of qualifications concise, but provide enough detail

with relevant keywords and terms. Some of skills that a Store Manager may need:

 Excellent communication skills.

 People skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.

 The ability to work in high-pressure situations and to “think on your feet.”

 Be able to read and understand sales data.

 Excellent organizational and time management skills.

 Self-motivated with a high level of confidence.

So, what are Store Manager Requirements? Firstly, High school diploma or equivalent

qualification is needed. Secondly, it also requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business

Administration or relevant field preferred, a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a

retail environment, ideally in a managerial role. Furthermore, a person may have strong

leadership and customer management abilities. Finally, the store manager requirements may

contain customer service-oriented with in-depth knowledge of basic business management

processes and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.2

In the case of Go Forward company, the requirement for the position of store managers is

MBA or at least three years of experience. The term MBA means Masters of Business

Administration. It is a post-graduate degree in business communication. This career is one of

the most sought after field for business students all over the world. The masters program is

well-recognized in various corners of the world and is a major pathway towards a great and

successful career in business management.

An MBA provides strategic research and analysis are the ability to conduct thorough

research and effectively analysis data is one that is not to be overlooked.3 After doing so

throughout the MBA, students should be proficient in providing evaluative feedback and

in-depth analysis in a range of business disciplines. These skills allow the student to provide

more value in the workplace, with the MBA giving them the confidence to suggest new ways

of approaching certain facets of business.

Following the case of Go Forward company, MBA graduate is fully aware of using

different methods, techniques and strategies to perform the tasks, utilize the resources of the

organization properly to achieve your goal, motivate and lead people being the store

manager. MBA graduate is also fully aware of different strategies and tactics to please the

customer and making customer service better.

Best practice leadership for today’s business world which helps students undertake

subjects such as ‘leadership’ and ‘strategic management’, equipping them with the

knowledge of how to be a high quality leader.4 It is important to remember that to be a leader,

you must have the ability to motivate and inspire others. This is not exclusive to those in a

management position - you can lead at any stage in your career.

There are high-pressure circumstances in almost every role, however, the business

environment is well known for its pressure, pace and level of responsibility, throughout the

MBA degree, student fine-tune their ability to manage high-pressure situation - from

working towards deadlines to remaining calm and focused in exams.5 Students can then

transfer these skills into their professional lives and feel confident in their ability to deal with

whatever gets thrown their way.

The question is “ Do store managers need MBA?” The store managers need a lot of skills

and qualifications such as ability to work in high-pressure situations, communication,

management proficiency, market knowledge, leadership, strategic research and analysis,

vendor relationships,…The job of the store managers can be designed according to their

skills, knowledge they have got from MBA and abilities so that they could perform their

responsibilities

Therefore, an MBA is very necessary for a store management. They will have enough

skill and knowledge to operate the store, work efficiently, and make the best profit.
