PANORAMA RECORDINGS 2019 PANORAMA CREATIVE MUSIC SUMMIT ‘The Panorama Creative Music Summit returns to Bakersfield College on September 16-19, 2019 at the Simonsen Performing Arts Center Indoor Theater. Presented by the Jazz Studies and Commercial Music Programs, the summit is an annual showcase for acclaimed visiting artists, local performers, and BC faculty, students, and alumni performing original music and exploring a broad range of styles and creative approaches across the jazz-pop continuum. Thanks to support from the Lydia Jennings Finlinson and Burns L. inlinson Endowment of the Bakersfield College Foundation as well as contributions from our generous sponsors, all events at the summit are FREE ADMISSION, open to the public and the campus community! MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 00 PM | PAC Indoor Theater | BC Jazz Combos Selected student composers present new works. 7:45 PM | PAC Indoor Theater | Omar Murillo Action Ensemble BC alum, composer, arranger, and trombonist Omar Murillo leads a 13- piece ensemble playing originals plus music by Kurt Weill and Dr. John. 8:30 PM | PAC Indoor Theater | Tin/Bag, The long-running duo of trumpeter Kris Tiner and guitarist Mike Baggetta (from Knowville, TN) creates music that is spare and ethereal, exploring the spaces between jazz, folk and country music, and contemporary composition. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 :30 AM | PAC-2 Band Room | Mike Baggetta Improvisation Workshop 11:00 AM | FA-65 | Mike Baggetta Guest Lecture WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 4:00 PM | PAC-2 Band Room | Kidi Band Workshop 7-00 PM | PAC Indoor Theater | Commercial Music Students Selected student songwriters present new works in a variety of genres and mediums. 7:30 PM | PAC Indoor Theater | Josh Ottum, BC Commercial Music professor presents a set of original songs. 8:00 PM | PAC Indoor Theater | Emily Sprague LA-based synthesist, songwriter, sound designer, and member of the folk trio Florist, Sprague's music was recently featured in Beyoncé’s Homecoming film. 8:45 PM | PAC Indoor Theater | Kidi Band LA-based quartet combines interlocking West African rhythms, prepared guitar, drums, and voices for a sound that is at once explosive, organic, and electrified.
