SPECIAL TILE FASTENING METHODS

AI/ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION
Traditionally, fastening methods for clay roofing tile have been the 11 gauge (3mm dia.) non-
corrosive nail system, but weather and roof conditions such as high winds, metal or concrete
decks require an additional fastening method to ensure tile is securely installed.

M.C.A. tile has been tested in compliance with the South Florida Building
Code requirements for clay tile nail-on applications. This application
requires 2 1/2" (63.5mm) stainless steel hurricane clips at all eave courses.
For field tile applications, use a minimum 1 1/2" (38.1mm) diameter stain-
less ring shank nail at the pan nail hole and at the crown nail hole, use a 2-1/2" HIGH HURRICANE CLIP. TYP.
