Multitasking is the need of the hour! 
This summer, the English assignment is interesting challenging and designed to be useful too – the 
home work entails some literary and research ‘work outs’ for you. 
INSTRUCTIONS​ : Use 2 pages of your blue Literature notebook. Make a neat and attractive research 
project on any ​ONE​ of the following: 
1. Write a 2 page biography of a grandparent Give it a title ‘Portrait of my grandmother/ 
grandfather. You must include descriptions, pictures an interview and anecdotes about your 
relationship. 
2. Make a 2 page pictorial display of Kailash Mansorovar! Also the Kailash Mansorovar ‘Yatra”. 
Include pictures, narrative descriptions and experiences of pilgrims and travellers. Do this 
task on 2 A4 sheets. 
3. Make a 2 page pictorial display on King Tutankhamun and the Valley of the Kings. Include 
pictures details, articles and information regarding the ancient Egyptian Civilization. Add 
interesting facts and myths regarding King Tut. Do this task on 2 A4 sheets. 
4. ‘You can’t change the world. You can only change yourself.’ Beatrice Woods. If you could 
change a few things about yourself today, what would they be? How would they help make 
your life and the world, better? 
Write an honest, introspective article about yourself! Title it as ‘Change is a Choice!’ Word limit : 
250 – 350 words. Do this work in your notebook. (we will select a few for the Yearbook)

7) How was temple construction done in Mesopotamia? Examine the role of temples in  
Mesopotamia. 
8) Explain the importance of the town of Mari. 
9) Examine the factors that could have led to the rise and development of cities in the  
Mesopotamian civilization.

ACTIVITY 
There  are  some  questions  to  think  and  discuss.  You  can  divide  yourself  into  groups  of  two  or 
three or answer the following questions individually. Attempt these questions in your register. 
(a) ​How should the class representatives be chosen​? 
(b)  ​Which  decisions  should  the  representatives  take  on  behalf  of  the  entire  class?  Should  there  be

3. Election and Representation 
Elections  and  Democracy,  Election  System  in  India,  Reservation  of  Constituencies,  Free  and  Fair 
Elections, Electoral Reforms. 
4. Executive 
What  is  an  Executive?  Different  Types  of  Executive.  Parliamentary  Executive  in  India,  Prime 
Minister and Council of Ministers. Permanent Executive: Bureaucracy. 
5. Judiciary 
Why do we need an Independent Judiciary? Structure of the Judiciary, 
Judicial Activism, Judiciary and Rights, Judiciary and Parliament.

6. Local Governments

Harm principle. Negative and Positive Liberty 
8. Equality 
Significance  of  Equality.  What  is  Equality?  Various  dimensions  of  Equality.  How  can  we  promote 
equality? 
9. Nationalism 
Nations and Nationalism, Nationalism and Self-determination, Nationalism 
and Pluralism 
10. Peace 
What is Peace ? Can violence ever promote peace? Peace and the State. 
Different Approaches to the pursuit of peace. Contemporary challenges to peace. 
11. Development 
What is development? Dominant, development model and alternative 
conceptions of development. 
 
 

 
 
Each student has to make a project file and do the holiday homework in it. Project can be in the 
form of a spiral folder with plain cover sheet. Creativity and dedication are important aspects. It 
should be handwritten.  
1. Make a project on any 1 branch of psychology (refer to chapter 1) 
2. Choose an eminent psychologist. Write a paper about him/her considering the following 
elements  
a) Biography  
b) Professional history 
c) Theories/​ ​influences on Psychology  
3. In the school register write question answers of chapters 1 and 2 (given at the end of

Please  follow  the  guidelines  enlisted  below  for  the  project  work  which  you  have  to  do  for  the 
first  term  Do  carry  out  research,  read  extensively,  explore  and  think  ‘out  of  the  box’  to  make 
your project unique and more meaningful. 

The  project  will  give  you  added  benefit  and  required  exposure  for  university  admissions  too. 
You will be evaluated out of 20 marks for these project files and a viva

Guidelines for Project Work in Economics (Class XI) 

At  the  end  of  the  stipulated  term,  each  student  will  present  the work in the Project File 
(with viva voice) to the internal examiner. 

Date of Submission: 1 July 2019 

The expectations of the project work are that: 

· Learners will complete only ONE project in each academic session 

·  Project  should  be  of  3,500-4,000  words  (excluding  diagrams  &  graphs),  preferably 
hand-written 

· It will be an independent, self-directed piece of study 

Scope of the project: Student may work upon the following lines:

Guidelines for the project:  


1. Project should be made individually.  
2. The project should be handwritten.  
3. Credit will be given to original and creative use of material /pictures/drawings / methods of illustrating  
4. The project must be presented in a neatly bound simple folder.  
5. Experimental procedure:  
• ​Do the background research (​you can search through relevant websites/books)  
• Organise your known facts.  
• Tabulate your findings

● Cyber  safety:  safely  browsing  the  web,  identity  protection,  confidentiality, social networks, 
cyber trolls and bullying 
 
● Appropriate usage of social networks: spread of rumours, and common social 
networking sites (Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook) and specific usage rules. 
 
● Safely accessing web sites: adware, malware, viruses, Trojans
