5. The assignment must:
 Be submitted to Turnitin on VU Collaborate before submitting a hard copy to your
lecturer
 Only one person in the group should submit the Research Report to Turnitin.
 Have the Assessment Declaration form as a cover sheet (no plastic protective covers).

6. There is an absolute need for correct referencing of the material presented including the
statistics. Students are to use the Harvard style for referencing.
7. Failure to submit the research report by the due date and time may result in fail for the
subject.

Questions

Suppose you are working for one of the large accounting firms as a graduate economist.
Your manager asks you to prepare an industry report for a client, who wants to set up a
multi-million dollar business in Malaysia, to help the client in making an investment
decision. You may choose any industry, however, make sure your report includes the
following aspects of the industry:

(a) Why have you chosen that particular industry?

(b) What are the sales/profit trends over the last 20 years?
(c) Who are the potential customers?
(d) Who are the major competitors (or how much competition exists)?
(e) How easy is it for customers to substitute your product for your competitors’
products?
(f) How easy is to enter the industry?
(g) How important is the government regulation of the industry
