TOPIC:
PEDIGREE ANALYSIS – CLASSICAL GENETICS

ACTIVITY SUMMARY:
This activity is designed to enhance student understanding of the concepts taught in General Biology
2 by generating/creating an Internet meme.

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the activity, students (by pairs) should be able to:
• produce an image macro or still image Internet meme using appropriate form, conventions,
and technique; and
• write a well-reasoned and well-written discussion about their Internet meme and how it
conveys what they have learned about the topic.

GUIDELINES:
1. Choose a concept from the topic stated above.
2. Given a specified template from the meme generator, create the Internet meme* using
appropriate form, conventions, and technique.
3. Write an attachment** that provides a well-reasoned and well-written discussion about how the
Internet meme conveys your chosen concept.

FORMAT:
• Paper size: letter (8 x 11 inches)
• Margins: 1”
