A.) Description of the study

1.) Rationale

Theft is one problem every country especially the Philippines, be it in

school, office or public places. Most of the victims of these thefts are usually
student and senior citizens. In 2018 there are about 23,590 cases of theft in
the Philippines (1); those 23,590 are the only ones that are being reported.
Common crimes and theft always happened anywhere like in schools where
student keep their bags, leaving them unreported because it is irrelevant to
the public. Thus, making thieves want more especially those who do holdups
and criminal routines.

Bag theft can be considered as one of the most known theft within the
Philippines. Thieves can easily open bags with a simple zip of your zipper until
they get the belongings. Moreover, these said thieves can misdirect your
attention while not knowing how these thieves stole the bags. The proponents
thought of developing an anti-theft bag that can only be opened by using the
owner’s fingerprint. Moreover, this said anti-theft bag can be tracked using the
GPS and proximity sensor which makes it more secure than normal bags.

2.) Objectives of the Study

2.1 General Objectives

To design and develop an anti-theft bag with a fingerprint scanner and

GPS with a proximity sensor using IoT.
1.2 Specific Objective
 To develop a security device that will be available and cheap to the
public.
 To develop a program using arduino uno to achieve the desired
security features.
 To test the functionality of the device.
a.) GPS system
b.) Synchronization of smartphone to bag.
c.) Proximity alarm sensor
d.) Application functionality
e.) Time delay ( on locking and unlocking )
f.) Fingerprint system

2. Conceptual Framework

Figure 1.1 shows the block diagram of our research proposal. Input talks
about the things that the device needs to do its operation. Process is the
synchronization of the programs and device to do its functions to maximize
effectiveness. Then lastly, the Output serves as the validator and receiver of
the data analysis of the security system. This is where we know about who
tried to open the anti-theft bag and where the anti-theft bag may be.

The proponents estimate that this study can be completed within the
range of one year to one and a half year.

Approximate budget to complete the study

The Approximate Budget to complete this study would be (eight thousand to

fifteen thousand pesos) Php 10000 to Php 20000.
