UNIT 4: SPECIAL OCCASIONS

1. Occasion (n.):

A particular time, especially when something happens or has happened ( dịp ).

Ex: We met on several occasions to discuss the issue.

=> occasionally (adv): sometimes but not often ( thỉnh thoảng )

Ex: I see him occasionally in town.

2. According to (n.):

as stated by ( dựa theo, theo)

Ex: According to Sarah they're not getting on very well at the moment.
3. Barbecue (n.):
a party held outdoors, during which food is cooked on a barbecue. ( tiệc nướng )
Ex: We're having a barbecue on Saturday - I hope you can come.
4. Bury (v.):
to put a dead body into the ground:
Ex: His father is buried in the cemetery on the hill.
5. Cardigan (n.):
a piece of clothing, usually made from wool, that covers the upperpart of the body and
the arms, fastening at the front with buttons, and usually worn over other clothes
Ex: Put on your cardigan then go out.
5. Celebrate (v.):
to take part in special enjoyable activities in order to show that
a particular occasion is important:
Ex: We always celebrate our wedding anniversary by going out to dinner.
