The kill graph above shows the pressures during a reverse circulation kill. The
tubing and casing IDs and ODs do not vary. The kill fluid being pumped is lighter
than the completion fluid in the annulus. There is oil and gas inside the completion.

a. What is the total volume of the well?

bbl

b. What is the tubing pressure at the start of the kill?

psi

c. What is the tubing pressure after pumping 200 bbl ?

psi

d. What is the annulus pressure after pumping 200 bbl ?

e. At what point does the fluid in the tubing overbalance the

formation pressure?
f. At what point does the initial SSD pressure go into unavoidable
overbalance?
g. At what point does the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid in the
tubing equal formation pore pressure?

fluid fill tubing?

30. Figure WH2 shows the configuration of the well and Figure WH3 shows a
reverse circulation kill graph that has been generated for constant ID/OD
tubing containing gas and Oil with a completion brine in the annulus.
The kill fluid (effective gradient 0.52 psi/ft) is being pumped through the annulus
via the sliding sleeve until formation fluids/gases and completion brine is displaced
out entirely.
Note: During the entire kill we maintain an overbalance of 200 psi above the
formation pressure at top perforations.

** Completion brine (0.49 psi/ft), oil (0.35 psi/ft), gas (0.12 psi/ft), and pump output (0.0899 bbl/ stroke).
A. What is the bottom hole pressure .at the sliding sleeve before the start of the
kill ?
B. After 62 bbls of kill fluid have been pumped, the tubing head pressure has
stabilized at 200 psi (point C - Figure WH3). This pressure remains
unchanged until we have pumped 188 bbls (point E - Figure WH3).What is
the reason for the stabilization of pressure at 200 psi?
a. The gas coming out of the well is not expanding anymore.
b. The oil is coming out of the well and the choke opening remains
unchanged.
c. The tubing remains filled with original completion brine and the
hydrostatic head remains unchanged
d. The fluid level in the tubing has dropped to below surface.

C. What is the total volume of the annulus between wellhead and sliding
sleeve?
D. If the tubing head pressure between point C and point D (Figure WH3) is
held at 150 psi Instead of 200 psi, which of the following is true?
a. The well is still overbalanced but overbalance is smaller than before.
b. The well is now in balance
c. The well is now underbalance
d. The well is still overbalanced but overbalance is greater than before.

E. At what point (Figure WH3) does the new kill fluid fill part of the annulus
while all the gas has just been displaced out of the tubing string?
A B C D E F
F. At what point in the graph does the new kill fluid fill part of the annulus
while all the gas and oil has just been displaced out of the tubing string?
A B C D E F
G. how much kill fluid be pumped into the annulus to circulate all the gas out
from the well?
H. What is the bottom hole pressure at the annulus side during reverse
circulation?
I. what is the pressure at the annulus side of SSD at point B during the kill
operation?

37. A well is to be killed using packing fluid with a specific gravity of 1.08. The
measured depth is 10528 ft. and vertical depth is 10260 ft. Formation
pressure is 4756 psi. Which of the following statements is correct?
a. There will be an overpressure of 99 psi vis-à-vis the formation
b. There will be an overpressure of 44 psi vis-à-vis the formation
c. The formation will be in balance
d. There will be an under-pressure of 42 psi vis-à-vis the formation
e. There will be an under-pressure of 99 psi vis-à-vis the formation.

38. The following information has been gathered from a gas well:
Bottom hole pressure: 3600 psi Maximum surface pressure: 3050 psi
From the pressure determined above, indicate the correct rated working
pressure for the wellhead equipment.
a. 2000 psi
b. 3000 psi
c. 5000 psi

39. If 20000 feet of 1.5’’ coiled tubing of 1.25’’ ID was used for acidizing, the
volume of displacement fluid required to displace acid to CT shoe is;
a. 45 bbl
b. 30 bbl
c. 20 bbl
