Peechi wild life sanctuary : The wildlife sanctuary formed around the twin reservoirs of Peechi and Vazhani is Kerala’s one of the oldest wildlife reserves. Vazhani Dam & Garden: Vazhani is one of the biggest clay dams built in Kerala with a length of 792.48 meters. It was built by Shakthan Thampuran , the Raja of Cochi and is one of Thrissur's famous landmarks. It is also a ideal place for bird watching. 9. Kole padam : The Kole field or the Kole padam is located in Pu- zhakkal, a suburban area in Thrissur town. Thrissur commonly called as ‘the pooram of all poorams’ is celebrated every year in Medam ( April) month, as per Malayalam calendar, at Vada- kkumnathan temple. Aanayoottu is the festival held in Vadakkumnathan Temple located in Thrissur. The Aanayoottu (feeding of elephants)'s a festival falls on the first day of the month of Karkkidakam (Jul). “Bharani” means the second asterism of the lunar month and considered a very auspicious day of the festival. The significance of this festival is that it is the birth- place of Bhadrakali, who was born from the third eye of Samhara Rudra. The Machattu Mamangam in Kerala is an annual extravaganza which is celebrated with full fervor and is at- tended by thousands from Kerala. The main ritual of the celebration takes place on the last day with a heavily decorated Kuthirakolams which is the motifs of the horses being taken out for the procession. Itis performed by trained artists to enter- tain people on the occasion of Onam in September, an annual harvest festival, celebrated mainly in the Indian state of Kerala. The Guruvayoor festival is conducted in the month of Kumbha, i.e., in February or March and lasts for 10 days.
